The American Optometric Association recommends that a child's first eye exam occur between the ages of 6 months to 1 year. The next exams should be at age 2, before entering kindergarten, and annually thereafter— unless we see a need for more frequent intervals. These exams are crucial to detecting problems with a child’s vision that could potentially limit their vision for the rest of their lives.
